Today at the daily White House presser, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs actually uttered the phrase ‘war on terror.’
Contrast that against previous statements by the Obama Administration that the ‘war on terrorism’ is over. I suppose ‘Overseas Contingency Operation’ didn’t roll off the tongue quite as nicely as they had hoped…
According to Fox News, US soldiers involved in a raid yesterday–April 26–that ended in six arrests and two deaths, may be tried in Iraq for “‘grave’ and premeditated felonies.”
This could have dire consequences. If I were on the ground in Iraq, I would be worried about taking that shot…
Folks, this cannot happen. Our leaders better be on top of this…
Ladies and Gentlemen, the War on Terrorism is over. We didn’t win, but we also didn’t lose. It has just been renamed:
Overseas Contingency Operation.
What the hell does that mean? Folks, it doesn’t mean a damn thing. It is one of those things that sounds really complicated but doesn’t really tell you anything. Let’s break this down…
Overseas–Not in America
Contingency–”The quality or state of being contingent” Contingent–likely but not certain to happen, or dependent upon something else.
Operation–”a usually military action, mission, or maneuver including its planning and execution”
So Basically, it should be called “A Not in America Military Action that is Likely but not Certain to Happen or is Dependent Upon Something Else,” but that probably wouldn’t fit on the business card…
You know, Glenn Beck brought up a good point. Let’s just call the Global War on Terror “Fruit Salad.”
Ladies and gentlemen, in a turn of events which is eerily similar to the recent SNL skit which everyone is watching, Hillary Clinton has removed herself from a rally against a nuclear Iran because Sarah Palin will be there.
Her excuse for backing out as reported at Fox News accessed September 16, 2008: “Her [Palin's] attendance was news to us, and this was never billed to us as a partisan political event,” Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said Wednesday. “Sen. Clinton will therefore not be attending.”
Folks, it was not partisan politics until Senator Clinton made it partisan politics. Hillary Clinton made it partisan politics when she said her reason for not going is Governor Palin. Protecting Isreal is not a partisan issue, it isn’t even an issue which should be debated. There is a country–Iran–which wants to push the Jews into the sea, and we–America–should do everything we can to aid our ally.
I see no room for debate. If you do, feel free.
Apparently Senator Clinton sees partisan politics in aiding a friend.
