Obama’s Healthcare Plan

Posted on 22 February 2010 by Mr. Harrington

Drudge is reporting Obama’s healthcare plan:

BACKDOOR FIX: ‘Funds will be transferred to the Social Security Trust’ if necessary…
PRESIDENT’S ‘HEALTHCARE’ PROPOSAL SUMMARY USES WORD ‘TAX’ 35 TIMES…
‘Increase in Fees on Brand Name Pharmaceuticals’…
Broaden ‘Tax Base for High-Income Taxpayers’…
Orders ‘Comprehensive Database’ On Health Claims…
FORCED: ‘Raises percent of income assessment that individuals pay if they choose not to become insured’…

This, as the Daily tracking poll was just released…

Approval Index: -19

Strongly Approve: 22%

Strongly Disapprove: 41%

Total Approval: 45%

And, as you can imagine, the CPAC straw poll had Obama’s approval rating at 2%.

The problem with Obama’s plan is that the Americans don’t want it.  Sure, he’s having a sham-sit-down with the Republicans, but in order for it to be truely bi-partisan, they essentially have to start over.  Will that happen?  I don’t think so.

The Weekly Standard holds a similar opinion,

“It is now clear that the “summit” the president has called for February 25 is not intended to consider different approaches to health care financing, but rather to create an illusion of momentum that might just lull disoriented congressional Democrats into ramming the health care bill through the budget reconciliation process.”

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are so entrenched in the current bill.  Those agents of government greed cannot save face with the American people.  It’s too late for them.

Reid said, “We’re going to have that done in the next 60 days.”

UPDATE:  The White House said that if the GOP doesn’t cooperate with their sham bipartisan meeting, they’ll go nuclear.

The nuclear option would allow the bill to be passed with just 51 votes.

The bipartisan option is a total sham to get the GOP to become the fall guy when the American people go nuclear.

The White House is looking for someone to blame when the American people throw everyone and everything under the bus in November.

UPDATE:  Does Obama endorse the Louisiana Purchase?  It seems so.  From the Hill:

“Obama’s bill, however, does not specifically remove $300 million of Medicaid funds pegged for disaster relief for which Louisiana is the only state eligible.”

With all the Media Hullabaloo…

Posted on 26 June 2009 by Mr. Harrington

Surrounding Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Mark Sanford, and Ed Sullivan, it might be hard to remember that THERE IS A VOTE ON THE LARGEST TAX INCREASE EVER on the floor today…

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, congress, in order to ram through the 1,201 page bill, they have decided to vote today.

14236074

Thanks to @CalebHowe

This is ridiculous.  How are they expected to read the bill?  To put it in perspective, they are asking the other representatives to read Atlas Shrugged in one day…and UNDERSTAND IT!

Now, an organization called Let Freedom Ring has made a pledge card that asks congresspeople to vote on the healthcare bill, only after they have personally read it and it has been made available to the people.

And as a quick asside, two people have signed the pledge… Jim Demint and James Inhofe…

Now they just need one for the largest tax ever…

Looks like they’ll need a speed-reader…

UPDATE:  HA!  I knew it.  Harry “Doesn’t want to” Reid says no to allowing a week to read the Cap and Trade bill…

UPDATE:  Tell those swing votes to vote no!

UPDATE:  Jesus Christ, folks.  House holds a moment of silence for Michael Jackson.  Kills me.  It’s a circus.

UPDATE:  Greenpeace is against Cap and Trade?  Who knew?  So, it seems that the Congress is trying to put the screws to the economy for the sake of expansion of government…

UPDATE:  They are really trying to pass a bill with a placeholder?  It’s a circus.

Rangel supports horse-trading on House floor…

Carl Levin says C&T is moral imperative…

John Larson invokes the name of T. Boone Pickens…Which is odd…because T. Boone’s Prop 10 was voted down in California in 2008…

And someone needs to tell him to stop yelling…

Is anyone else worried about all these Democrats invoking the ideas of “terrorism” and 9/11 while trying to get votes for C&T?

The Cap and Trade bill costs $700 Million a page!

UPDATE:  Representatives caught horse-trading…Barton said it best, “At least its transparent…”

UPDATE:  Gohmert: “Where is a physical copy [of the 300 page amendment?]”

–silence–

That silence is so telling.

Apparently, they can’t find a physical copy of the 300 page amendment…

And also, there isn’t a rule that requires a physical copy to vote…or, if there is, the important sounding person at the big podium isn’t aware of one…

Barton: “If a bill for which there is no copy were to actually pass House, could bill be sent to Senate having no copy?”

Apparently there isn’t a copy…anywhere…even on the desk…

Will they recess to form a search party to find the 300 page amendment?  Barton requested a short recess to find the official copy…

Markey says no.

It’s a circus…

Jason Chaffetz, Representative from Utah, said on tweeted, “Dems still don’t have a final finished hard copy of bill, 1,500 pages now.  And we are supposed to vote on this? Nobody has read it in full.”

Representative Bilbray: “The biggest threat to environment is the smoke coming from backroom deals”

A representative wished to have a moment of silence for those who will lose their jobs had his request objected to…

UPDATE:  Well, John Boehner is going to fillabuster!  He is going to read every page of the 300 page amendment…

I guess that means they found it…

Watch it Live Here.

Hope he brought a diaper…or a pail…

Boenher turned 2.5 minutes into an Hour!  Good work, sir!

WORK THOSE PHONES!

Here’s how he did it.

Watch him tell it like it is…

“It is the custom of the house is to listen to the leader’s comments.”

Cap and Trade has passed in the House.

Now we must work the Senate.  And find out who those 8 Republicans were…

219-212

After the jump:  Who were the Republican turncoats?  Also, more updates…
