Propaganda Watch

Posted on 03 September 2009 by Mr. Harrington

The National Endowment for the Arts is gathering a group of young artists to advance Obama’s agenda.

They are asking for “a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, taste-makers, leaders or just plain cool people to join together and work together to promote a more civically engaged America and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change!”

From Patrick Courrielch’s article:

We were encouraged to bring the same sense of enthusiasm to these “focus areas” as we had brought to Obama’s presidential campaign, and we were encouraged to create art and art initiatives that brought awareness to these issues. Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to “shape the lives” of those around us. The now famous Obama “Hope” poster, created by artist Shepard Fairey and promoted by many of those on the phone call, and will.i.am’s “Yes We Can” song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election.
Obama has a strong arts agenda, we were told, and has been very supportive of both using and supporting the arts in creative ways to talk about the issues facing the country. We were “selected for a reason,” they told us. We had played a key role in the election and now Obama was putting out the call of service to help create change. We knew “how to make a stink,” and were encouraged to do so.

Obama Youth Targeted in Upcoming Speech

Posted on 01 September 2009 by Mr. Harrington

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, President Barack Obama, in an interview with a student reporter last month, said that he would give a speech targeting students on September 8.

Here’s the video:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

What is he going to do? Use Sesame Street to appeal to children?

Whatever he does do, Lord knows the Department of Education wants teachers to pay attention.

Click here to read the “PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities: President Obama’s Address to Students Across America.”

Now, I’m sensing there will be a “call-to-arms” for the Obama Youth. I’m sure Obama will tell them to convince their parents that O-man is right.

Developing…I’ll have more after work…

UPDATE: Conservative Tammy Bruce said, “Make September 8 Parentally Approved Skip Day. You are your child’s moral tutor, not that shady lawyer from Chicago.”

I completely agree. Some school districts are leaving the decision to the teachers with the ability for parents to opt-out. I think parents should have to opt-in…

So, go to the Menu of Classroom Activities written up by the Department of Education, and go to page two…or just click the picture below for the full size image…
letters

Basically, it asks teachers to ask students to write letters to themselves on how they can help the president. Help Obama do what?! Propagate his radical, fascist ideas?

Well, now the wording has changed…after outrage…of course…

“We changed it to clarify the language so the intent is clear,” said the White House.

Also, I did think it was weird that one of the pre-speech suggestions was to read books about President Obama…creepy…

“I pledge to serve Barack Obama.”

“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama.”

This video truly knocked the wind out of me. I could not believe the above quote. I am scared.

UPDATE: September 3 2009:

Check out the Propaganda Watch here!

Well, it turns out the “I Pledge” video was actually shown in a school in Utah…

The AP dumbs-down the message of the video, saying the video shows celebrities pledging to different things…and makes no mention of them pledging to serve Barack Obama!

Is anyone else horrified about everyone wanting to serve Barack Obama?

Hey, I’m all for community service…I did a lot in high school…but I am wholly against service to Barack Obama. Forget God’s partner, this guy thinks he’s god.

Populist Propaganda at School

Posted on 09 February 2009 by Mr. Harrington

Text of the flier:

“One Black Man Could Be President One Million Black Men are in Prison

OK, OK–so it’s more like nine hundred thousand, if you don’t count the ones on parole and probation, in institutions and juvenile detention centers, working minimum wage jobs or waiting in line at the welfare office, locked into homeless shelters or locked out on the streets.  But now that Obama is in the White House, we’re supposed to forget about all that–America, land of opportunity!

Representative democracy is just like the free market: everyone supposedly gets a chance, but only a few come out on top.  If you don’t win, you must not have tried hard enough!  This is the same rationalization that our rulers use to justify the injustices of capitalism, sexism, and racism: look, you lazy bums, you could have been Bill Cosby or Hilary Clinton if you’d just worked harder.

The rest of us know the ststem is rigged to make us all loosers.  We deserve another world, another way of distributing power and rescources that values everyone’s needs equally.  If someone has to be a failure, let it be the ones who aspire to world domination, whose triumphs maks us feel small, if anyone must languish in prison, let it be the politicians who seek power at everyone else’s expense.  That would be som real Hope and Change.”

Oh boy, folks, we’ve got a good one here.

Ladies and gentlemen, this was on a bulletin board in the criminal justice building at California State University Sacramento.  The only reason I gave it a second glance was because of the “amendments” someone had made; however, upon closer examination, I am glad I grabbed this.

The leaflet mentions the hundreds of thousands of black people incarcerated in America’s prison system; ending that section with a strange juxtaposition:

“America, land of opportunity!”

Now lets be serious here, folks…What the hell does that mean?

The people in our prision system have squandered their opportunity.

The leaflet was provided by a group called CrimethInc.

Check it out.

The rest of the “literature” goes on to preach about populism.  A post concerning populism will be coming later this week, so check back.
