Folks, this is deception if I’ve ever seen it. The AP is reporting that, in Oregon, lawmakers have spent $176 million to create jobs.
They created 3,236 jobs. Most of which lasted only 35 hours. One work week…
From the AP:
“The White House requires states to report numbers in terms of full-time, yearlong jobs. That means a part-time mechanic counts as half a job. A full-time construction worker who has a three-month paving contract counts as one-fourth of a job.
Using that method, the AP’s analysis of figures in Oregon shows the program so far has created the equivalent of 215 full-time jobs that will last three months.”
More from the AP:
“If Oregon’s dollars-to-jobs ratio remains steady, the program will create about 688 full-time, yearlong jobs. So far, it’s generated only enough hours to employ 54 people full-time for a year.”
The Economic Stimulus Package “has worked as intended.”
“It has already extended unemployment insurance and health insurance to those who have lost their jobs in this recession. It has delivered $43 billion in tax relief to American working families and business.”
Now, ladies and gentlemen, I’m getting a little confused on who wants what, here. Let’s break it down–no one will be dancing…
Oh, and, not to stir the pot, but, Where are those jobs? I don’t even remember how many we were supposed to create, or save, or creatorsave or whatever the verbiage of the administration is at the time of this writing…
Bloomberg is reporting that Laura Tyson, an “outside adviser” for Obama, said that the nearly Trillion ($1,000,000,000,000) economic stimulus package was, “a bit too small.”
Ladies and gentlemen, when is a trillion dollars too small?
Hoyer said, “Certainly, I don’t think we can make a determination as to whether or not that’s been successful — certainly as successful as we want it to be, certainly not as quickly as we want it to be. I think we need to be open to whether or not we need additional action.”
So, in essence, what he is saying is, “We can’t determine if the stimulus worked, even though the President said it has worked. And because we cannot make that determination, we should spend more.”
“Tyson’s comments contrast with remarks made two days ago by Vice President Joe Biden and fellow Obama adviser Austan Goolsbee, who said it was premature to discuss crafting another stimulus…”
Folks, the Obama administration’s striking ability to say one thing but mean and do another has struck again–twice in one day, in fact.
Joe “Give me a f****n’ break” Biden, in a stunning display of competence, said, “We cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do when they make a determination, if they make a determination, that they’re existentially threatened.”
Surrounding Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Mark Sanford, and Ed Sullivan, it might be hard to remember that THERE IS A VOTE ON THE LARGEST TAX INCREASE EVER on the floor today…
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, congress, in order to ram through the 1,201 page bill, they have decided to vote today.
This is ridiculous. How are they expected to read the bill? To put it in perspective, they are asking the other representatives to read Atlas Shrugged in one day…and UNDERSTAND IT!
Now, an organization called Let Freedom Ring has made a pledge card that asks congresspeople to vote on the healthcare bill, only after they have personally read it and it has been made available to the people.
And as a quick asside, two people have signed the pledge… Jim Demint and James Inhofe…
UPDATE: Greenpeace is against Cap and Trade? Who knew? So, it seems that the Congress is trying to put the screws to the economy for the sake of expansion of government…
UPDATE: They are really trying to pass a bill with a placeholder? It’s a circus.
Rangel supports horse-trading on House floor…
Carl Levin says C&T is moral imperative…
John Larson invokes the name of T. Boone Pickens…Which is odd…because T. Boone’s Prop 10 was voted down in California in 2008…
And someone needs to tell him to stop yelling…
Is anyone else worried about all these Democrats invoking the ideas of “terrorism” and 9/11 while trying to get votes for C&T?
The Cap and Trade bill costs $700 Million a page!
UPDATE: Representatives caught horse-trading…Barton said it best, “At least its transparent…”
UPDATE: Gohmert: “Where is a physical copy [of the 300 page amendment?]”
–silence–
That silence is so telling.
Apparently, they can’t find a physical copy of the 300 page amendment…
And also, there isn’t a rule that requires a physical copy to vote…or, if there is, the important sounding person at the big podium isn’t aware of one…
Barton: “If a bill for which there is no copy were to actually pass House, could bill be sent to Senate having no copy?”
Apparently there isn’t a copy…anywhere…even on the desk…
Will they recess to form a search party to find the 300 page amendment? Barton requested a short recess to find the official copy…
Markey says no.
It’s a circus…
Jason Chaffetz, Representative from Utah, said on tweeted, “Dems still don’t have a final finished hard copy of bill, 1,500 pages now. And we are supposed to vote on this? Nobody has read it in full.”
Representative Bilbray: “The biggest threat to environment is the smoke coming from backroom deals”
A representative wished to have a moment of silence for those who will lose their jobs had his request objected to…
UPDATE: Well, John Boehner is going to fillabuster! He is going to read every page of the 300 page amendment…
Folks, after the jump, there is an email I sent to the Pennsylvania branch of ACORN. After no response to this email, I sent it to every ACORN email I could find. I still have not received a response.
The email was regarding an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review quoting Ian Phillips saying there was no quota system while registering voters, now, those of you who have been following the ACORN story here on the Report, you know that this is untrue, and that the Project Vote Training manual says to
“set clear numerical hourly expectations, retrain once, and then fire.”
I post this email with a request of you:
Would you please email this email to every ACORN email address you can find? Demand the truth. Ladies and gentlemen, this is your duty. It is your duty to not let these Chicago thugs get away with this racket any longer.
Please read, then copy, then send the email to every ACORN email address you can find.–I’m hoping that they cannot ignore this email if it got the proper volume.
There are two hundred-ish companies registered at the address-1024 Elysian Fields Ave–of the business Citizens Consulting (by the way, I’m going to call this company tomorrow):
Here is a picture of the building at the address…According to Glenn Beck.
Also, on the left, it gives a list of businesses…the ones that are featured…ACORN and the Affiliated Media Foundation?.
And…another organization that is at that address…the SEIU. SEIU local 100 is located at the same address as ACORN, the Affiliated Media Foundation, and other businesses…
Lord Christopher Monckton, an adviser to Margret Thatcher, was to testify with Al Gore in front of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The discussion is part of the committee meetings about the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.
Monckton had this to say, “The Democrats have a lot to learn about the right of free speech under the US Constitution. Congress Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) refusal to expose Al Gore’s sci-fi comedy-horror testimony to proper, independent scrutiny by the House minority reeks of naked fear.”
According to the article:
“…Monckton claims that when the Democrats were told who the GOP witness would be, they refused to allow him to testify alongside Gore.”
