New York State tries to ban salt. To increase consumer choice?

There is legislation in front of the New York State legislature that would ban the use of salt in New York restaurants.

Here is partial text of the bill:

“No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises.”

The bill was introduced by Felix Ortiz (D- Brooklyn). He was just on FoxNews and he said that this legislation will increase consumer choice…

He also said that the consumer would have the right to ask how much sodium is used.

I’ve read the bill…I don’t think so…

And, I’m not quite sure how more government control on my food intake will increase my choice…

Check out the full text of the bill after the jump…

Nancy Pelosi seems to have completely changed her ways. She claimed that the Democrats and the Tea Party movement share some of the views in an interview on ABC News’ Elizabeth Vargas. This is quite astonishing, to say the least. After she called the Tea Party movement “astroturf” and claimed that it was not a legitimate movement, she claims that the Democrats do, in fact, have some agreements with them. Not only that, but the issue that they agree on is that special interests have too much power and too much influence in Washington? How odd. It may never be known what is going through the head of the Speaker of the House. But watch the interview and try to decide for yourself.

Obama's healthcare summit is a disaster.

Barack Obama, in a stunning example of his frustration with the Bipartisan health care summit, said that he didn’t count his time because he’s the President.

Check out the video here.

The Man-Child is so frustrated with the whole thing. This has backfired the most stunning of ways.

He accused Eric Cantor of using props and theatrics by using the text of the bill.

Obama is so frustrated, he has had to resort to calling the very subject of the summit a prop.

How much do you want to bet Bami finds some way to worm his way out of continuing the dog and pony show?

Harry Reid, in his infinite wisdom, said,

“I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand. Why? Men don’t have jobs.”

He went on to say,

“Women don’t have jobs either, but women aren’t abusive, most of the time.”

Well, I don’t really know what to say.

I can only imagine that he’s trying to drum up support for his $15 billion jobs bill.

Rush just made an interesting point. Democrats and Progressive-Democrat policies have caused massive lay-offs. So, by Harry Reid’s logic. It’s his fault.

Romney endorsed McCain. Is it smart?

The AP is reporting that Mitt Romney has endorsed John McCain in his reelection bid for his Senate seat.

Romney said,

“It’s hard to imagine the U.S. Senate without John McCain.”

Let’s face it, McCain has supported big government policies, big government spending, and progressive politics.

It makes sense for Sarah Palin to endorse McCain. If she didn’t, the State Run Media would be falling all over themselves to attack her.

Palin’s endorsement makes sense, Romney’s doesn’t.

What Romney is showing me is that he’s willing to ignore politicians’ progressive policies. Sounds like a stunt that backfired…

Post-CPAC-Blues got you down? Relive some of it now.

The Conservative Political Action Conference is the beginning of a new conservative order–conservatives organized as libertarians, conservatives on the attack, and conservatives offering a common sense approach to the issues America faces.

Many of the conservative candidates are running on a quasi-libertarian platform because when the pendulum swings too far in one direction, it swings back hard in the other.

“CPAC has become increasingly libertarian and less Republican over the last years,” Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said, “[that’s] one of the reasons I didn’t go this year.”

Texas Rep. Ron Paul–an outspoken libertarian–won the CPAC straw poll with 31% of the vote. The crowd booed at the announcement; however, cheered wildly at the announcement of the second place winner, Mitt Romney.

President Barack Obama and his elitist Democrat cronies have called the Republicans the party of no. You bet your ass we’re the party of no! If standing up for the Constitution and for the American people, and standing against big government means being called the party of no, it’s a small price to pay.

There is a push by many to return to the Constitution as it is written in order to bring about change in the political climate. This push will undoubtedly resonate with the American people.

“It begins with the principles of our founding documents, principles that recognize that our rights come from God, not from our government,” Marco Rubio said in his opening speech at CPAC. Rubio is running in the Republican primary for a Florida Senate seat.

Rubio received much applause during his speech, and speakers after him used his name as an applause line.

February 22, 2010, Rasmussen Reports had Rubio ahead of his competitor with 54% of the vote.

CPAC was not just a stop on the conservative campaign train, many bloggers, pundits, researchers, and columnists took the CPAC soap-box to call out Obama; Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi; Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid; and others.

Referring to Obama’s Executive Order ordering the closing of Guantanamo Bay, Erick Erickson called out Obama.

“Air American is shut down and gitmo is still open,” Erickson, who runs the conservative news website Red State, said.

Some used some controversial laugh lines to get a point across. Jed Babbin of Human Events, suggested that waterboarding should be used as an interrogation technique. To make the idea more attractive to liberals, he said, “the CIA will be limited to using Perrier.”

Some people were a bit more restrained in their criticisms. Tucker Carlson of Fox News said that conservatives should stop referring to the left wing media as the mainstream media because there’s nothing mainstream about framing news stories to fit an ideology.

“Assume you’re mainstream. Assume you really are representing America when you tell the truth–honestly, forthrightly and without fear,” Carlson said.

Others were not as level headed in their criticisms of the media.

Andrew Breitbart accused the mainstream media and salon.com of partaking in the politics of personal destruction.

And still, there were others who offered a common sense approach. Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said the conservative motto should be “2+2=4.”

This election year and that in 2010 will usher in a new era of Change. HopeandChange brought the American people more of the same. And with the Conservative promise of smaller government, lower taxes, and defense of the Constitution, the Conservatives will surely offer change you can believe in.

Scott Brown voted for Harry Reid's $15 billion jobs bill. Does that make him a RINO from his first vote?

Scott Brown added his name to the rolls of those who will vote for cloture on the Democrat’s $15 billion jobs bill.

Reportedly, Scott Brown will release the following statement following the vote:

“I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside, and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families. This Senate jobs bill is not perfect. I wish the tax cuts were deeper and broader, but I will vote for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work.I was disappointed with the continuation of politics-as-usual in the drafting of this bill, as it was crafted behind closed doors, without transparency and accountability. I hope for improvements in that process going forward. All of us, Republicans and Democrats, have to work together to get our economy back on track. I hope my vote today is a strong step toward restoring bipartisanship in Washington.”

Read

The Bill still requires one more Republican vote in order to pass due to the absence of another senator.

Read

I really don’t know what to think about this. Did his hotness go down a few notches? No. Do I think that he made a mistake? Yes.

Do I hate him for it? No. Was this a dumb decision? Yes.

We can safely assume that Olympia Snowe will vote for the bill.

Does Scott Brown really want to be in that same realm?
